Plastic packaging has transformed the world.
It’s lightweight, versatile, durable — and everywhere. From sachets and food trays to shrink wrap and multilayer pouches, it’s a cornerstone of convenience in our global economy.
But it comes at a massive cost.
The global plastic packaging market was valued at $265.2 billion USD in 2022 and is projected to reach nearly $385.5 billion by 2028, growing at over 6% annually. As this market expands, so does its environmental footprint, with millions of tons of waste generated every year – much of it ending up in landfills or leaking into oceans.
4 Earth Global believes innovation and determination can transform our planet. That’s why we’ve pioneered a world-first cleantech solution that can permanently recycle all seven types of waste plastic packaging – including sachets, cling wrap, food trays, meat packaging, and other difficult-to-recycle materials that most systems reject.
One Innovation. Seven Solutions.
Most recycling plants worldwide are only equipped to handle 2–3 types of plastic, leaving the rest — often contaminated or multilayered — to pollute the environment. But our technology changes the equation.
We’ve developed a process that:
- Permanently recycles all seven grades of plastic packaging waste
- Blends it with organic materials like wheat straw, coconut husks, and rice husks
- Adds scientifically formulated additives to create high-performance, maintenance-free composite building materials
Tackling the Complexities of Plastic Recycling
We know the path to sustainable packaging is filled with obstacles, and we’re tackling them head-on:
- Contamination: We use advanced filtration and cleaning systems to make even food-stained packaging recyclable.
- Mixed Materials: Our process can handle multilayer films and composite plastics — packaging types most systems avoid.
- Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR): We align with EPR frameworks, helping producers close the loop on their plastic lifecycle.
- Consumer Engagement: We advocate for public education, sorting simplicity, and infrastructure that empowers participation.
- Biodegradables and Compostables: Where appropriate, we support innovation in next-gen packaging, while offering circular solutions for existing plastic streams.
Case in Point: Impact in the Philippines
As part of the USAID Clean Cities, Blue Ocean Project with Tetra Tech, we supplied our composite materials to build two training facilities for a school in Puerto Princesa, Philippines – a region grappling with extreme plastic waste due to its “sachet economy.” This project showcased how our solution:
- Reduces waste at the source
- Builds urgently needed infrastructure
- Creates jobs and educational opportunity
- Strengthens local resilience to pollution and climate change
It’s a model that can be replicated across developing countries – turning waste into something tangible, functional, and life-changing.
The journey to solving the plastic crisis is complex. But at 4 Earth Global, we’ve shown that with innovation, collaboration, and bold thinking, it’s possible to turn one of the world’s biggest environmental problems into powerful building blocks for change.
